MISS HOEFT OVERCOME.
ANOTHER SWIMMER COLLAPSES.
Two sensational incidents occurred at V the Auckland Centre's Swimming Carnival last evening. At the conclusion of the 150 yds. ladies' invitation race Miss Pauline Hoeft fainted while in the. water. - Mr. A. Morris, instructor oi the Royal Life-Saving Society, quickly divesting himself of his overcoat, dived in and brought Miss Hoeft to the edgo of the baths, where she recovered, but took no further part in the carnival. Later, at tho. conclusion of the 220 yds. men's nan'- ; dicap, G. R. Champion was seized with a fainting fit and was promptly rescued. by the instructor of tho Royal Life-Say-ing Society, who was warmly applauded for his timely, efforts.
