LONGUEVAL'S THANKS.
GRATITUDE TO NEW ZEALAND FIRST TO HEAL WOUNDS. (Received 12.40 a.m.) United Service. LONDON, Oct. 28. The Mayor of Longueval ; acknowledging New Zealand's gift of 1600 francs for the poor of Longueval, declares: "Only New Zealand, from all the British Empire, has not forgotten the unfortunate village. New Zealand was' the first to deliver us from the yoke, the first to assist in rebuilding our homes, and the first to heal the wounds of our poor, abandoned commune. Our gratitude is unbounded. We shall never forget the immense sacrifice of our ever-generous benefactors."
