ADVANCES TO FARMERS.
FINANCE ARRANGED.
SUM OF £2,000,000 IN HAND. [BT TELEGRAPH. —PRP.SS ASSOCIATION.] LEVIN. Monday.
In the course of his speech at a banquet to Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., to-night, Ma. Massey stated that as Finance Minister he hoped to pay into the Advances Department within a day or two the sum of £2,000,000, which he proposed to lend at 5i per cent, on chattel securities in sums of £25 to £300 to small farmers, to establish them on the land. He also stated that the boards which are to inquire into the condition of the soldier settlers are set up in 11 district*, and in the one remaining would bo set up in a few days, ana would be able to commence operations.
