GIFT TO SANATORIUM.
CLUB'S SEIZED LIQUOR.
The question of the ownership of liquor seized .recently by the police in connection with the Lyttelton Working Men's Club seemed likely to cause a dispute. A suggestion, was therefore made that it Ghould be handed to a hospital. The superintendent of police, Mr. B. Sheehan, has now received a communication from Mr. W. N. Toy, president of the club, suggesting that the liquor should be handed to tho officer in charge of the Cashmere Sanatorium for returned soldiers. Mr. Toy states that he would like it understood that the gift is made without prejudice, and with the §ood wishes of his club. Superintendent heehan expressed the opinion that the club had met the position very fairly,,
