KINGSLAND OVERBRIDGE.
80R0UGH'S CONTRIBUTION.
QUESTION OF THE AMOUNT.
The proposed railway overbridge at Kingsland formed the subject of a deputar tion yesterday from the Edendale Ratepayers' and Progressive Association to the Hon- C. J. Parr, member for the district.
Mr. Parr said the railway authorities declined absolutely to accept the Mount Albert Borough Council's offer of £3000, in payments of £300 a year for ten years, as its only contribution toward the total cost of £23,000. The matter was now before the Railway Committee of the House of Representatives, to which the petition presented had beeD referred. He had appeared before the committee cm behalf of tho Edcnd&le people and had made out as good a case as possible. In reply to a request that he shou'd eecure further information as to the contribution desired by the Railway Departfcnent, Mr. Parr said he would lob the deputation know within the next fortnight what tho department was prepared to i accept as the lowest contribution.
