HEALTH IN CANTERBURY.
SATISFACTORY CONDITIONS. [BX TBUtaBATH.— OWN CORMSSPOJJ DBNT.] CHIUSTCHURCH. Tuesday. A good report of tho health conditions in tho Canterbury health district is given "by Dr. T. F. Telford, medical officer of health. Measles have been prevalent lately in a loild form, but the more severe complication of bronchial pneurnoma has been fortunatoly absent. Had tho measles out. break occurred earlier in the winter it is considered that its ravages would havo been much more severe. A few cases .of scarlatina havo been reported, but their number is not groat enough to give riso to any uneasiness. Chnstchurch, which in the past has borne the reputation of being a " pneumonia centre ' at this timo of the year, is this year almost entirely free, and in this respect is more favourably situated than any of the other large centres..
