PAEROA-POKENO RAILWAY.
NO START THIS YEAR. [BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPORTER.] * WELLINGTON. W«<3neaday. The Minister for Public Works, Hon. J. G. voates, stated today that. the amount of work which the Government had in hand and the financial commitments involved were so great that he was unable to hold out any hope that it would be possible to start the Paeroa--I'okeno railway this year.
