ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE.
TO BE TRIED IN BRITAIN. NEW FLYING SCOTSMAN. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Aug;. 25. The North-Eastem Railway will shortly use to convey the " flying Scotsman " express between York and Newcastle the first high-speed electric locomotive built ic Britain, which will be absolutely safe. It will be capable of drawing 450 tons at a majrimunv speed of 90 miles an/ hour and an average of 60 over long distances. If the experiment proves successful the whole North-Eastern system will use electrio in preference to steam locomotives.
