AMERICAN MAN HUNT.
. .o ; FOUR ESCAPED CONVICTS. DESPERATE RESISTANCE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 4.5 p.in.) NEW YORK, Aug 26. A message from Rapid City, South states that one of the most remarkable man hunts in the history of the State ended to-day; when a sheriff's posse, after a search by horse, motor-car and aeroplane, cornered four convicts who escaped on August 17 from South Dakota Penitentiary. The convicts were speeding in a stolen motor-car toward the famous Badlands Wilderness, where they hoped to find an asylum, when they were met by the posse A battle ensued in which one convict was killed, one sheriff mortally wounded and two other convicts wounded and captured The fourth convict escaped to the woods, whero he is virtually surrounded.
