UNIMPROVED RATING.
«. EFFECT AT NORTHCOTE. The collection of rates on the unimproved value in the Northcote Borough next year will affect the finances of the Northcote Croquet Club, the lawns of which are situated at the comer of Princes and King Streets. It was stated at the annual meeting of the club on Saturday that, exclusive of water charges, the rates this year amounted to £7 14s 2d, whereas the equivalent payment on the unimproved value of the lawns would be £19 5s sd, an increase of £11 lis 3d per annum. It is understood the system will operate 'in the opposite direction in the case of the Waitemata Bowline Club's property, near the gasworks, at the head of Little Shoal Bay, and that the bowlers will pay less in rates than at present on the annual value.
