Th* Otahuhu Borough Council's last meetin* w<& presided over by the- Mayor, Mr. B- B. Todd, there being a Lao present: Messrs. Brady, Clements, Hall, Nicholls, Preston, Shepherd and Whiteloy. The raising oi a ioan to liquidate the antecedent liability of £4860. was authorised at a. special meeting, the order to be confirmed at a meeting on September 28. ' The Under-Secretary of Internal Affairswrote forwarding a copy of a letter sent by him to Mr. _E. Harding, relative to th© latter'© petition to have his property excluded from the borough. The letter to Mr. Harding advised him to effect a settlement of the matter, as failing that a commission •would hfcv© to be set up at the expense of th© parties. Mr. A.. C. Stacey wrote stating that be proposed to set back the fence in front of hie Property in Albion Lane to the proper aundary line, and that this would leave the existing ditch in the roadway unprotected. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for a report. ■ The Medicax u nicer of Health wrote explaining the position with regard to the departments- account for £10 for examination of the water and offering to make monthly tests at a cost of £12 12e per annum. It was decided to pay the account for ,PlO. and to inform the medical officer that the council does not consider monthly tests necessary at present. In a further letter, the medical officer of health requested the council to institute a weekly refuse collection in the more con- i geeteo: t>arts of the bo T "ii(;h. Th» matter was referred to the Water and Drainage Committee for report.
