The owner of * a. section ijranechateiy adjoining and overlooking the well-knowa "Fairy Spring," Mr. H. Tai Mitchell, made a free gift of this section to tha community. .Carrying on in the ociiae spirit, the representatives of the NgatiWhakaue tribe agreed to allow the sum of £52 lying to their credit aa the result of revenue charges * derived from the " Fairy Spring" to be paid to the County Council in order to provide work - for the unemployed returned sold-'ars. In this connection a. deputation waited on Mr. W. H. Bowler, commissioner cf . tho Native Land Court arid president of the Waiarikii Land Board. Th 3 commissioner stated that Mr. Mitchell's generous present of the section, which so immediately adjoins such a famous beauty spot, Should be esteemed at its true value. He would be very pleased ; to make the necessary recommendation, as it was probable that a short clause in a Washing-up Bill would be required to ;*| give full effect to the gift.
