THE INFLUENZA SCOURGE.
BRITISH MEDICAL CAMPAIGN. HOPEFUL RESEARCH WORK. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Aug. 14. The Daily Mail states that recent investigation into influenza by Dr. Mervyn Gordon .at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, raises a hope that the scourge may soon be successfully combated.. "He confirms the American and Japanese view that the organism is so minute that it cannot be caught in the finest filter. The British Medical Research Council is so impressed by his investigations that it has decided to form a team of scientists to attack the problem. Influenza in 1918-19 destroyed more lives than were sacrificed in the whole war.
