HAMILTON. Tueasday.
During the past two years no less than 587 houses have been erected in Hamilton, according to Mr. J. E. Tidd, president of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. - These figures, he told the chamber last night, represented the erection of almost one house for every working day in the two years. He had recently made a tour of the North Island, and nowhere were the same signs of prosperity evident as in Hamilton. The class of house in Hamilton also compared more than favourably with those of other places, and personally, in spite of all the talk of high rents, he did not think they were too high here. There wero really very few houses to rent, and iie knew of no place where so "many residents were their own landlords?. During the past three years buildings had been put up in the town to the value, of £735,780.
