REDUCED BY PENNY A POUND COMPETITION FROM SOUTH. A reduction of one penny a pound has been made in the price of b'ntter in Auckland. Following upon the casing of the rates for New Zealand butter on the London maxKet, one local company announced the reduction and the other factories followed. It is stated that a»t the end of last week Wellington and Taranaki factories offered butter in Auckland at one penny a pound under the local rate. The wholesale piicc is now 16 Bid per lb., and the retail price Is lid per ll*.
