CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE.
A pay-up social in connection with the Auckland District Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Central Mission HaLL Mrs. Neal presided. The Rev. R. B. S. Hammond, of Sydney, gave an address on Prohibition, and appealed to those Resent to devote both time and money to gain prohibition at the no£t poll. In reply to a question from the National Couucd of Woman if the union would support a resolution for prohibition,' a hearty vote was passed in favour. The work of the hostel for the year was reported on by Mrs. Taylor. A vote of sympathy was passed to the family of the late Mrs. Davies, one of the foundation members of the Auckland Union. Songs 1 were contributed by Mrs. Anstice and Miss Rirnmer, and recitations by Mrs. Maidment and Miss Cowley. Afternoon tea was dispensed. «. *
