TE AROHA DISTRICT.

THE ANNUAL SHOW. [BT TELEOKAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AROHA. Thursday. The Thames Valley Agricultural and Pastoral Association has decided to hold its next annual show at Te Aroha on November 15 and 16—a week before the Waikato Show. For the last two years the show was held a week after the Waikato Show and before the Auckland Metropolitan Show, but this year the Hamilton Association has selected the Te Aroha dates, necessitating the local association coming before Hamilton. The annual Masonic ball proved a distinct there being a large attendance, including many from other districts, particularly Paeroa. The local Orphans' Club entertained the members of various local bodies in the district as the club's special guests last Monday evening. Mr. D. v *McL. Wallace presided, and mentioned in the course of his welcome that he was a member of the first borough council elected in Te Aroha in 1898. The Anglican Bishop of Auckland, Dr. Averill, left on Tuesday after conducting very successful services in Te Aroha, On Sunday morning he conducted a largely attended confirmation service at' St. Mark's Church. In the afternoon he addressed a public meeting of men in the Theatre Royal on a man's duty to his feliow men; while in the evening he delivered a most impressive sermon at St. Mark's Church. On Monday evening the bishop was the guest of the local Orphans' Club, and was accorded a very hearty welcome. The Piako County Council, acting on the recommendation of the Hungahunga Ratepayers' Committee, has decided to expedite the work of metalling roads in that special rating area. The output from the Gordon crusher plant renders it necessary to purchase another motor-truck.
