THE LABOUR CONFERENCE.
OPENING, ON WEDNESDAY. REMITS TO BE piSCUSSED. The annual conference of the New Eealanl Labour Party will open m Auckland on Wednesday, w&ur, delegate from all parts of Nov Zealand, including Messrs. H. E. Holland, MP., P. Fraser, M.P., J. MoCombs, M.P., F. R. Cooke, of Christchurch, chairman, and M- Ayrton, secretary, will be present. The consideration of a remit from Wellington and Wangarai, that an arrangement should be made with tho Liberal Party regarding the next election, will he the principal Business. It is suggested that in alectorates where Labour cand:dat<*s received more votes than the Liberal candidates at the last election,, the Liberals should siot contest the seat, slud vice versa, so that the issue may bo a straight out one between Reform and Labour, or Reform and Liberal. The basis of tlio suggested agreement is that if sufficient of the two parties are returned to defeat the present Government, the combined party .should nut through a Proportional Representation Bill in all its stages. Other remit* deal with unemployment, the borrowincr system, taxation, education, State ownership, local autonomy, and land.
