Mr. John Ernest Moore, well known - in business circles in Auckland, died at) his residence, Ngaroma Road, ; Epsom,', yesterday at the age of 68, from heart failure. Mr. Moore came to the Dominion about 35 years ago and founded the Surgical Supply Company, which he managed until its incorporation with the New Zealand Consolidated Dentil Com- V pany last year. He was greatly respected by all who had business with ~ him, not only for his scrupulous honesty ' / but also for his unfailing courtesy. He ? was a prominent member of the K Mount Eden Congregational Church, and took a very keen interest in the work of the London Missionary Society. He is survived by Mrs. Moore, one son, Dr. A. Eisdell Moore, of the city, and a ; daughter, Mrs. Cecil Moodie, of Epsom. His elder son, Captain W. E. He had just concluded some remarks in his ordinary quiet style and resumed his seat wheu signs of collapse were observed.. The assistance of Dr. Chesson was immediately called, and was available in a few, minutes, hut the deceased was beyond medical aid. He waa 72 years of age. He settled in this dis- ; trict from Somerset, England, in 1671. He was a member at various times of the Harbour and Hospital Boards, and at one time chairman of the Whangarei County ■* Council. He followed the profession of schoolmaster in his earlier years and later entered journalism. He had an interest in the Rodney Times, and edited for a ■, period the old Northern Star. He was,a 'resident in and a vigorous champion of Onerahi. At one time he contested Mars- " den against the late Mr. Robert Thompson without Buccess. f
