THREE DISAGREEMENTS
CHARGE AGAINST CHEMIST.
JURY ONCE MORE DIVIDED.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION".] CHRISTCHDRCH. Friday. The second retrial of James Reynold Hayne, of Dunedin, chemist, on charges of manslaughter and performing an illegal operation commenced this mcring before Mr. Justice Chapman. At previous trials rn February 17 arid February 27 the juries failed to agree. Five jurors were challenged by the defence, and the Crown ordered 16 to stand aside. No fresh evidence was produced. The jury again disagreed to-day. Mr. Justice Chapman said the matter of a new trial would stand over until the I>finister or Solicitor-General had determined whether a new trial would be held. The accused was released on his own recognisance of .£SOO.
