LOCAL BODY FINANCES. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. An order-in-council published in this week's Gazette authorises the Gisborne Borough Council to raise a loan of £25,000 for the purpose of paying off tho "antecedent liability." Gisborne appears to be about tho first borough to take definite steps under the legislation pi last session.
