SOME REDUCTIONS MADE.
SUGAR TO BE CHEAPER.
WHOLESALE RATES FOR COAL
A reduction in the price of sugar to per 11). for cash will bo made by the Auckland grocers from Monday. This step has been taken in anticipation of reduced working expenses hh a result of tho reduction of tho cost-of-living bonus by 5s a week in accordance with tho pronouncement of tho Arbitration Court.
Tho wholesale price of coal wil] be reduced as from next Monday. Tho Taupiri, l'ukemiro, and Waipa Coal Companies have issued a notification to tho effect that household coal will be reduced Is per ton and kitchen and steam coal will bo reduced by 2s 6d per ton, both these reductions being on tho price at tho mine. It is probable that tho retail coal dealers will announce a reduction in price early next week. '
Tho Auckland motor traders yesterday discussed the reduction in the bonus, and decided unanimously to reduce charges on labour to the public proportionately Uk the reduction in wages.
