HEAT MARKS ON WOOD.
Very often a hot dish or other article is thoughtlessly placed upon a polished ; tabic, with the result that tbe polish is i scorched. Such ;i mark probably w alj lowed to remain because the housewife | docs not know how to remove it.
Fold a piece of blotting paper a couple of times- -making four thicknesses in all— and cover the place with it. Place a hot flat iron on this. Have nt hand several pieces of flannel, hot, and folded in four thicknesses. When the iron has nir.de the surface of tjhe wood quite warm rub over the spot with a piece of paraffin wax. rubbing hard enough to leave a thin coating. With one of the hot pieces of flannel rub the. scorched -surface. Continue rubbing, using freishry warmed cloths, until the stain has disappeared. Should the mark 1m- very bad this operation may have to be repealed.
