UNTRACED EX-SOLDIERS.
NONDELIVERY OF MEDALS. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Friday. " It ia a remarkable fact that not only has difficulty been experienced in obtaining the addresses of soldiers' next-of-kin, but some 14,000 members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force cannot be traced," states the Minister for Defence.
" The department is holding paybooks, certificates, wills, etc., for these men, and each day letters, -couohed in intemperate language, are being received complaining of delay in sendincc medals, etc. In practically every case tho delay is entirely due to. soldiers not notifying tho department of change of address, the articles about which they complain having already been sent out to tho addresses recorded by tho soldiers, and subsequently returned to tho department through the dead-letter office."
