ADVANCES TO SOLDIERS.

CONTINUANCE WANTED. [BY TiXEGBAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Friday. The following resolution was carried at the. annual meeting of the Chriskhurch branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association:— "That this meeting expresses its regret that the benefit* of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act have been partially suspended and trusts that the Act wili'be put fully into operation again at the earliest possible moment. It draws the attention of the Government to the special need tiere is for a continuance of loans for the purpose of building houses, as the present immigration policy is making more aruto the shortage of dwellings. The system while beneficial to the soldier is also gL«d (or the country, and incurs no loss to tho Government."'
