BEST SINCE REQUISITION. AN ADVANCE IN PRICES. [B1 TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The fifth wool sale of the season was held to-day, and is considered to have been tho most satisfactory that has taken place since the requisition. The results surpassed expectations. The total offering was 1500 bales, or somo 400 less than was put up at the last sale on March 10, but in view of tht> late stago of the season, the entry was most satisfactory. Thero was a full bench of buyers, representing Bradford, Yorkshire, Belgium, France, Germany, America, Japan, and Dominion mills. Competition throughout was strong, ':eeu, and vigorous. The selection of wool was v,ery good for this time of the year. Crossbred wools predominated, and all that was offered, with the exception of only four lots, was readily disposed of. Brokers advised a fairly general advance of £d, while for passed in lots from the previous sale a considerablyhigher rise was recorded. Lambs' wool was eagerly competed for, not only by France, hut by Dominion mills. The highest prices of the series ware obtained, ae much as lid and lljd bc-intr paid for s'>me good lots of Eomney and Down lambs' wool. The prices realised for pieces, bellies, locks, and crntehings were all equal to those recorded last month, if not a little better. The range of prieea was: — Merino 9: Inferior, 13d to 14jd. Medium half-bred : Super, 12|d to 14jd; average, 10} dto '2^d; inferior, 8d to 9sd. Coarser halfbred: Average, BJd to lOJd; inferior, 7d to Bjd. Corriedale: Average, IOJd to 12|d; inferior, &id to 9fd. Fine crossbred. Super, 9d to IQJd; average, to 9Jd; inferior, 5d to 6Jd. Medium crossbred : Super, 8d to 9Jd; average, 6d to 7|d: inferior 5d to 6d. Coarse crossbred: Super, 6d to ?id; average, 5Jd to 7d; inferior. 4d to s}d. Low crossbred: Super 5d to 6|d; average, 4Jd t > 5Jd; inferior, 4d to Hoggets: Fine, 8d to 9Jd; medium, 6d to B£d; coarse, 5d to 7Jd; low, 4d to 5Jd. Lambs: Down, 10d to lHd; fine, 8d to lOJd; meow i, 6Jd to Bid. Seedy and inferior, all grade;, 2d to sd. Bellies and pieces: Half bred good to super, 6Jd to 7Jd; haJfbred low to medium, tyd to 6d. Crossbred good to super, 5Jd to sd; crossbred, low to medium, IJd to 3d. Crutichings: Medium to good, 3d to 4Jd; inferior and seedv, l{i to 2Jd. Locks: Merino, 2Jd to 3Jd; crossbred, lsd to 2d.
