IMMIGRATION FRICTION.
♦ FEDERAL OFFICIAL RESIGNS. ATTACK ON MR. HUGHES. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. Feb. 26. Mr. H. S. Gullett, superintendent of the Commonwealth Immigration Office, has resigned. Explaining his resignation, Mr. Gullett attacked Mr. Hughes for his hole and corner policy in regard to immigration proposals, and declared that Mr. Hughes condemned the Burnett scheme because it came from Mr. E. G, Theodore.. Mr. Hughes declined to comment.
