GOLF.
EXPERIMENTAL COMPETITIONS. Tie Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews bas advised the New Zealand (jolt Association that the Rules of Golf Com" 11 *: tco has invited the golf clubs of Great Britain to hold experimental competitions with balls of the largest procurable size but not restricted in weight. The object ol this experiment is to test the treguentlyexpressed opinion that a substantial increase in the size of the ball w the best means of securing the object desired, and that the weight ie of minor importance. The New Zealand Golf' Association hw been asked to conduct a similar experiment it this country and report the result* of it.
