J. H. KIRKWOOD'S TOUR.
AMERICA MAY KEEP HIM. LONDON, Feb. 10. The Observer alleges that America has " captured " J. H. Kirkwood, the Australian golfer, and adds that he is an uncommonly good golfer, who has attained hiu present position by downright earnestness and will force.
Prior to his departure for America by the Ventura a fortnight ago, Kirkwood declared that he would be back in Australia by the end of the year. "I have already had many tempting offers to remain abroad," he said, " but no matter how good any inducement made to me during the coming trip may be, I will return. " I feel it my duty to represent Australia in English', French, Canadian, and American championships. I ought to find the experience gained by me on my last trip invaluable, and with knowledge and pood solid practice I expect to do better than I have ever done.'' Kirkwood said that he would spend only five weeks in America before going to England. He hoped to play a few names there, he said, more for practice than anything else. He would return to America later.
