MISSING TAXI-CAB DRIVER.

The latest development in connection with the mnrder of W. D. Taylor, the cinematograph director, who was found shot in his heme, is the institution of a search for a taxi-cab driver, who lias been missing since the afternoon of the day on which Taylor was murdered. The polico derlaro that the taxi-cab driver left homo with a 33-calibre revolver, corresponding with the weapon from which the bullet was fired which killed Taylor. The police say that they have found three cartridges in the taxi-cab driver's room exactly like the one with which Taylor was shot. It is also stated that the missing driver answers to tho description of a man who was seen hovering about Taylor's homo on the evening of his murder. The Attorney-General has received a letter purporting to be from Edward Sands, Taylor's missing valet, who is sought by the police. The writer of the letter offers to surrender and clear up the murder mystery if a charge of embezzlement made by Taylor a. year ago is withdrawn. The letter declares that Sands did not commit the crime but knows who' did. The District Attorney immediately issued a statement promising that if Sands surrendered and 'established his innocence he would take steps to waive the old charge. Yesterday it was reported that the nearest approach to a tangible clue was the story of a garage man who supplied petrol to a fashionably-dressed woma.n who had driven furiously from the city and showed signs of nervousness. The same woman is said to have been observed in tho neighbourhood of Taylor's house about the time of the crime.
