FIRE ON A STEAMER.
MINOR DAMAGE DONE. [by telegraph— press association.] CHRISTCHDRCH. Thursday. At an early hour this morning an outbreak of fire occurred in the engine-room of the steamer Wakatn. The brigade soon subdued the flames, the damage being confined to the woodwork and electric wiring. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The fires were banked yesterday afternoon.
