PROCESS OF SETTLEMENT.
CLAIMS FROM DOMINION.

The British Clearing Office, which was established to clear indebtedness between the nationals of the British Empire and Germany, has issued a report showing that claims lodged against Germany amounted to £52,431,202, of which £17,200,567 were admitted, and, with interest at 5 per cent. paid. German claims totalled £36,247,424, of which £7,416,251 were admitted and paid. A cablegram has been received from the Imperial authorities requesting the New Zealand Government to nominate a representative in Berlin to take over, in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles, securities relating to the Dominion and give a discharge therefor. The High Commissioner has been authorised to appoint a representative for New Zealand. It is announced that the total amount of claims forwarded to the Gorman Clearing Oince. on account of New Zealand nationals to September 30 last amounted to £41,913. Fifty-five of these claims have been admitted in whole or in part by the German Clearing Office and payment duly made by the New Zealand Clearing Office. The debts paid amount to £5213 plus interest thereon, which brines the total to £6896. Claims by German nationals against New Zealand which have been collected by tho New Zealand Clearing Office and admitted through the Central Clearing Office up to November 11, 1921, amount, to £14,115, plus interest, £4734, making a total of £18,849.
