. 0. CONDITION OF WHANGAREI. DR. VALINTINE'S CRITICISM. [BI IHLSOBAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI. Tuesday. At a meeting of the Whangnrei Borough Council last night reference was made to certain sweeping criticisms of Whangarei by Ih\ T. H. A. Valintine. Tho Mayor, Mr. D. A. McLean, said he considered the statements greatly exaggerated, and thought the visit of Dr. Valintino should have been notified to him so that he might have accompanied the doctor on his inspection. The following resolution was passod unanimously :—" That tho attention of the Minister for Health be directed to the public statements concerning Whangarei recently made by the visiting officer of health, Dr. Valintino, and that the council, having personally and through its officers looked into these matters, regrets to say that it does not feel that Dr. Valintine's statements were fair in judgment or true in fact."
