McCONACHY. SCORES WELL. FALKINER IN GOOD FORM. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 6.E p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 7. The position at the end of yesterday's play, in the billiard match between C. McConachy and T. Reece was:— McConachy (received 1000) 7251 Reeco (scratch) .. .. 6037 The best breaks made were McConachy 200, .192, and 101, and Reece, 103. C. Falkiner, scoring consistently in his match with C. Newman, has gained ground, reducing Newman's lead from 1800 last Saturday to 400 by Wednesday. Tha scores are now:— Newman 14,666 Falkinei- 14,161 The best recent breaks have been: Newman, 469, 267, 320, 311, 304 j Falkiner, 336, 349, 234, 226, 210. M. Inman has failed to keep pace with W. Smith in their match of 16,000 up. Smith bas 'own drawing further ahead each session. The scores at the close of to-day's play were :— Smith 14,666 Inman 11,648 The best recent breaks have been: Smith, 210, 391j and 271 unfinished; Inman, 243, 201.
