VITAL STATISTICS.

RETURNS FOR PAST YEAR. SLIGHT DECREASE ON 1920. The vital statistics for the year just closed show that there have been 73 fewer births than in 1920, the figures for which, however, constituted a record. The deaths last year totalled 175 less than in the preceding year, and marriages numbered 136 less. Tho births last year totalled 5512, as compared with 3385 in 1920 and 2713 in 1919. Deaths were less than in 1920, and | slightly more than in 1919, the respective | totals being 1525, 1700, and 1497. MarI riages totalled 2074, as against 2210 in 11920 and 1710 in 1919. | During last month th_ere were registered ] 268 births, 130 deaths, j.nd 232 marriages, I of which 44 were performed by the regis- | trar, as compared with 240 births, 140 . deaths, and 229 marriages in December, ! 1920.
