Retailers in Christchurch to-day wore notified by the dairy companies from whom they obtain supplies that factory butter will cost 2d a lb. less than formerly, commencing after the New Year holidays. 'Hius the consumer probably will obtain his supplies at Is 5d per lb. instead of Is 7d as hitherto charged. In consequence it is anticipated nhat farmers' butter will cost the dairies lid to Is a lb. and will reach the general public at approximately Is 3d.
