POLICE COURT NEWS.

THEFTS AND VAGRANCY. A short sitting of the Police Court, was held on Saturday, before Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M. A charge of having stolen a waistcoat valued at 7s 6d from a second hand dealer's shop was denied by Ernest Walton, aged 28. He was fined £2 and 10s costs for the theit, and £2 foi resisting arrest. A sentence of three months' imprisonment was imposed on Colin Cameron, aged 38, who was convicted .as an incorrigible rogue, having been previously convicted of vagrancy. Euphemia Veronica Darroch, aged 36, pleaded guilty to a charge of vagrancy. She was ordered to como up for sentence in one year, and to take out a prohibition order. John McDonald Patterson, aged 44, was fined £1, in- default 43 hours' imprisonment, for havir.g broken a bottle on the street when drunk. Charles McDonald, aged 43, was fined £1 for disorderly conduct while drunk. Henry Lee, aged 21, was fined £1 for having used threatening behaviour. William Gerald Cain, aged 31, admitted a charge of vagrancy and was ordered to come up for sentence if called on in six months. A bitting of the Court was held yesterdav moniiag, before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M. James Kelly, aged 47, who admitted having stolen a pair of boots valued at 255, and a pair of trousers valued at 305., from shop fronts, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Caroline Jarman, aged 49, who admitted having been drunk dining the currency of her prohibition order, was also sentenced to three months' imprisonment. For using threatening behaviour and assaulting a constable, Henrv Phillips, aged 38, a ship's fireman, was fined £5. Patrick Kavanagh was lined £1 10s and £1 costs for drunkenness and for using obsce.i.e language.
