AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. JUBILEE MEETING OPENS. RESULTS FOR FIRST DAY. The 453 th annasl prize meeting of the Auckland Rifle Association, hold in connection with !,he association's jubilee, was opened at tho Penrose riflo range yesterday. The weather waa fine, but a left " fish-tail" wind, which blew in strong gustfi, proved an awkward obstacle to many of the competitors. Entries were fewer in number than last year, but though this was an unexpected factor in allotting tho prize money, the association is able to pay out in full by drawing from the reserve accumulated in provioUs years. Two former New Zealand champions pro attending tho meeting—Messrs. I). RooLs (Kaponga) and K. Doughty (Akarana). Former Auckland jjhampions attending a re:—President Corws, Waihi; Ereaident Oausley, Thames; P JBident W. H. Moselem, Kaeo; Captain NeiLson, Wellington; Pror.dent W. ft Williams, Obura; Mr. J. A. Spry, City; and Mr. C. Simpson, Cadet C. C. Asldey, the present New Zealand cadet champion, is also competing. Messra. C. Simpson and H. Doughty were range officers yesterday, while Mr. J. G yeo efficiently attended to tho secretarial duties. . A vcrv close tie was put up for first place in the Citizens Match for 200 yds Messrs. W J Morgan, D. Roots, W. Colquhoim, and L Webber each scored a possible ol 50, and in tho shoot-off came out as follows Morgan, 15; Roote, 14; Colqnhoun, 14 ■ Webber, 13. In tho 800 yds. Onehunga Match A. G. Devore also scored a posfiblo, for which ho secures the Onehunga Bow . The Herald Cup in the 500yda. Auck an Match went to TV. V. Lee, Akarana and the Star Cup in tho 300 yds Match to W. J.
