CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS.

TELEGRAPH BOY INJURED. MOTOR-OAR AMONG CROWD. VEHICLES IN COLLISION. The presence of motor-cars in Queen Street last, evening when the thoroughfare was thronged with sightseers constituted a distinct menace to pedestrians, and at least one accident occurred. This was, fortunately, not attended by serious results. A telegraph messenger named Eric MorrLsoii, aged 15, who resides at Sccond Avenue, Kingsland, was knocked down by a motor-car opposite Darby Street shortly beforo 10 p.m. The boy had delivered a message at a business house and, mounting his bicycle, he attempted to cross the street. On reaching the tram rails ho was struck and thrown heavily to the ground by a motor-car which was proceeding in the direction of the wharves. When the car was brought to a stop the front wheel of the vehicle was resting on the lad's body. Willing hands quickly extricated him and carried him to a chemist's shop near by where he was tended until the di rival of Dr. Horsley, It was found that while no bones were broken the lad had received a severe shaking and was badly bruised about tho I'ips and abdomen. He was able later to proceed to his home. , A motor-lorry and a motor-car collided in Beach Road, Parneil, shortly before 5 p.m. yesterday, with tho result that the motor-car was overturned and the occupants, Mr. Henry Buck and his married daughter, Mrs. Close, had to be taken to i (he hospital for treatment. Mr, Buck, who reside? at 24, Bath Street, was suffering from scratches on tho face and was able to return home after treatment. His daughter had received rather severo injuries to the head and face, and had to remain in tho hospital. A returned soldier, Mr. Thomas J. Adams, fell into the harbour last evening, and when rescued was Unconscious. He was conveyed to tho hospital, where he later regained his senses, but was unable to account for the accident. An old-ago pensioner, Mr. Percy Richard Loder, was found unconscious in Upper Queen Street yesterday evening and taken by the police to the hospital, where he was found to be suffering from shock. Mr, Loder is 82 years of age, ajid resides at Avondale. He had not recovered consciousness at an early hour this morning. I A ship's steward. Mr. Sydney Lee, a single man, aged 22 years, slipped on a plank on the deck of his vessel, the Kaikoura, early yesterday afternoon.
