A POPULAR STORE FOR XMAS GIFTS.
ALEY'S, KARANGAHAPE ROAD.
The selection of suitable articles for presentation, especially where the intended recipients are of both sexes and all ages, is a task from which many people shrink. They are anxious, no doubt, to give the things away, ae tokens of their goodwill or affection. It is the choosing of them that is apt to bo irksome. Well, a very simple and effective way out of that difficulty is to pay a visit to Aley's, In bustling Karangahape Road (at the corner of East Street, and only three minutes' walk from the corner of Pitt Street). The stock of gift goods at Aley's is so large i and so varied that it becomes a very easy matter to find among all these things something that will delight a child, and something else that will be sure to find favour with a grown-up. Many neautifu] examples of electro ware, any one of which would make a charming present; there are dainty manicure set», scent sprays, fitted dressing case's,- purses- in the newest styles, ladies fancy feather handbags (a great assortment), and the fashionable shopping bags .(everlasting wear), with the pretty raised designs (in, colour) on their fronts. Here, also is a collection of fountain pens, including all the well-known makes, and also Aley's own gold nib self'filler, a reliable line at 108 6H. Then there is a great assortment, of beautiful art china, comprising tea sets, plates, dishes, vases, jardinieres, teapots, jugs (single and in sets), and perhaps a score or two of other articles. Jfhe- English crystal ware is also worthy of inspection, so are the toilet requisites, perfumery, and knick-knacks. The Satsuma ware (embracing a host of lovely little things) should also be seen. So far we have dealt chiefly with articles suitable as gift* for ladies, but the goods adapted for presentation to gentlemen are also very numerous, and include suit cases, dressing cases (fitted), Shaving outfits, pocket-boobs, wallets, and purses, hair brushes, attache cases, c'ird cases, tobacco pouches, sports requisites, and heaps of .other things. There are also some hundreds of books—illustrated stories of adventure for boys; most of the English classics, the poete: and a really good assortment of fiction by popular authors for holiday reading. Lastly, there is a really good display of toys—all of them of, the kind that children prize, prices ranging from a few pence upwards. Aley's is certainly a good place for presents.
