FIGHT WITH A SHARK.

FATHER UNABLE TO SAVE BOY A desperate encounter with a shark occurred in the Brisbane Rivet on November 27, being attended with fatal results. Mr. Herbert Jack and his little son, aged about eight years, who was on his father's back, were wading out to a dinghy about 15yds. from stiore in Bul.mba Reach. Just before reaching the dinghy Mr. Jack was seized by a large shark by the right thigh. In a heroic fight he eventually succeed in beating the monster off, but before he could regain the shore the shark made another attack, seizing him by the right arm. His elbow,, forearm, and wrist were badly" lacerated before he got free with tae assistance of a friend, who was waiting on the bank. Mr. Jack's little son either fell or was pulled off his father's back by the shark, and was lost. Mr. Jack was taken to the hospital in a serious condition. The attack took place in between three and four feet of water.
