PROPORTIONAL VOTING.

CAMPAIGN PROPOSED. The annual meeting of the Proportional Representation Society was held at tho Victoria Arcade office of the organisation last evening, the president, the Hon. George Fowlds, presiding. There- was a fair attendance

The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, the Hon. Geo. Fowlds; vice-presidents, Messrs. T, Bloodworth, H. Dearsley, G. Stevenson and W. R. Tuck; secretary, Mr. R. E. Taylor; committee, Messrs. G. M. Fowlds, 0. H. Nightingale, E. Sayes, Egerton Gill, J. Jolly Thomas, L. Phillips and H. Ingram.; The president was authorised to convene a conference of representatives of other societies and known supporters of the movement, to he held in Wellington at an early date. The Auckland delegates selected were Messrs. a. M. Fowlds, R. E. Taylor, T. Bloodworth and G. Stevenson. It was stated that the conference would consider draft bills on proportional representation and the best methods of applying it. The meeting discussed the. questions to be submitted at the conference. The chairman remarked that he had observed a keener interest in the question of proportional representation recently than nad been the case for a very long time. While thero was little hopo of the present Government'introducing tho system it would bo the aim of the society to mate proportional representation a test question at the next general election.
