NEXT DAVIS CUP CONTEST.
AUSTRALASIA TO CHALLENGE. 1 (Received 7.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 15. It is announced that William M. Johnston will definitely retire from tennis competitions next year, including the Davis Cup contest. It is reported that Norman Brookes has informed Mr. Myrick that Australasia definitely intends to challenge for the Davis Cup next year, and that the team will probably be chosen from Anderson. O'Hara. Wood, Patterson, and himself.
