NO SUITABLE LABOUR.
Sir, —I notice in your issue of 6th inst. two letters from farm workers who state they are unable to obtain employment, acd do not seam to understand what I meant by the term *' suitable" labour. The fact is that 1 have no inquiries at present for married couples, but could place a large number of experienced .ingle men. Your correspondent, " TJn<jmploycd," is correct in concluding that in his case a family of nine, including himself and wife, is hardly suitable for » single man's job, where the wages include " found." His family would prove a valuable asset if. making on shares, but I have no openings of this kind available. Your other correspondent, " Father of Five," attributes to me the statement that the labour bureaux are " deluged with applications for workers skilled in fanr, work." Such a statement was never made by me, as I have no knowledge as to whether this is so or not. Wa. Httby, Provincial Secretary, New Zealand Farmers' Union.
