FACTORY-MADE GARMENTS.
Sir,—A statement that Was recently made by Mr. J. T. Paul in the Arbitration Court, relative to the price paid to workers for making such articles as blouses and pyjamas was so ridiculously low, compared with rates paid by the drapers in Auckland, that it was received by the trade here with derision. Inquiry, however, seems to indicate that under nieco-work rates in a certain Wellington factory, some time ago, prices paid were very low. In Auckland the price paid for similar work by "the members of the Drapers and Clothiers' Association bears uo relation whatever to the figures quoted bi Court, being from three to four times Vi exesss of those prices.
8. E. W:mqht, Secretary, Drapers and Clothiers' Association.
