DEPORTATION ORDERED.
FINN WITHOUT A PERMIT.
Deportation was ordered by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Wellington Magistrate's Court against a Finnish seaman named Yrjo Rafael Gronroo3, who was charged with landing in New Zealand without a permit. It was stated that Gronroos had deserted from a ship on its arrival in New Zealand, and had been working in the country until his apprehension by the policß. Mr. W. E. Leicester, who appeared for the defendant, said that as Scales and Company, the agents for the vessel, had entered into a bond for £100, Gnonroos was entitled to remain in New Zealand for a period of twenty-one days. He. would enter a plea of guilty € _ however. A customs official in Court intimated that the man should be deported. The magistrate ordered that Gronroos should be detained until arrangements could be made for hJ3 deportation.
