DOMINION CONFERENCE. LENGTHY ORDER PAPER. LAND QUESTIONS CONSIDERED. fjBX TEXEQBAPH.—PaESa ASSOCMTIO.V.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Dominion conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union opened to-day. Mr. G. W. Lcadley (president) delivered an address, and received a vote of thanks by acclamation. There aro some 200 remits on the order paper. The conference resolved that occupiers of all Crown laud should be granted tho option oil buying the same. The conferenco resolved: "That the Government bo urged to legislate to provide better facilities for holders of native leasehold purchasing tho freehold of their holdings"; also, 'that tho granting of the fieehold of national endowment lands be made retrospective, to that present occupiers shall have Mi© right to obtain the same." The conference adopted an Auckland remit, "That all third-class Crown lands be thrown open for selection under the homestead system," and resolved, "That tho Government be asked to re-submit all acquired lands which have been vacant for twelve months or more, on such terms as will ensure their immediate occupation." Other remits adopted were: —''That practical men conversant with local conditions should act in conjunction with land purchase boards, and that the provincial executive be asked to recommend such appointments; that all land required for soldiers' settlement be thrown open for selection at such time as to allow settlers to benefit from tho coming season; that tho Government be urged to provide the necessary legislation giving power to the Minister for Lands to agreo to accept the surrender of Crown leases, particularly when largo areas of land aro held, upon such terms and conditions as the Minister may agree to."
