THEFT FROM EMPLOYER. FINE OF £5 IMPOSED. The theft of 12 handkerchiefs, three medallions, and a pair of gloves from George Court, Ltd., -was admitted by Walter Frederick Arthur, aged 30, who was charged before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Mr. Irjder said the accused was a married man who was out of work for three months before having been i o.ved temporarily as an assistant by tI, L hrnv Knowing that he would be out of work again, and having heavy medical expenses pending, he had taken the articles for his wife. He had excellent testimonials. Accused was fined £5. and £1 2s 6d costs, to be paid at the rate of £1 a; month. MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES. Richard Salisbury, aged 48, admitted having refused to quit the Waitemata Hotel bar when requested to do so, and having resisted a. constable when under the influence of drink in Customs Street. He was fined £1 on the first charge, and convicted and discharged on the others. A remand for one week was granted in the case of Henry Patrick •Moor, aged 32, who was charged with having obtained from Patrick O'Shea on June 20 the sum of £500 by false pretences, with intent to defraud.
