SALE OF CROWN LANDS.

SMALL AREAS OFFERED.

TOTAL OF £3662 REALISED.

A number of small areas of land in various parts of the Auckland land district were offered yesterday by auction at the Auckland Crown Lands Office. The majority of the sections were sold, the prices realised in many cases being largely in excess of the" upset values. The highest price was obtained for an area of 15 acres in the Parish of Tamahere, Waikato County. The upset price, includihg £240 fox. improvements, was £615, and , the, amount realised fpr the section was £1240. A section of 3 roods 24 perches and a cottage in the Selwyn Settlement, Matamata County, with an upset price of £334, realised £600. The sections were offered under the deferred payment system. Mr. J. Beudely, of the Lands Department, officiated as auctioneer.

Three half-acre sections in Kaihere Village, Hauraki Plains, were purchased at •the upsei prices of £60, £35, and £30 respectively by E. T. McGlashan, Devonport. Eight sections each with an area of rather more than a quarter of an acre, in the Kaihere Village, were bought by E> A. Beidy, Kaihere, at prices ranging from £15 to £19. Other purdoasers were: Sections 25 and 26, Takawhata Township, Waikato, 1 rood each, Mrs. A. Eoberts, Te Kawhata, £l 5 and £17; section 27, 1 rood. H. A". The total amount realised at the sale was £3662.

A number of sections in the Moturiki Township, near Tauranga, were withdrawn, and will he offered for sale at Tauranga. Sections not sold will remain open for amplication at the upset prices until further notice.
