AMERICANS DEFEAT ENGLISH. EIGHT EVENTS TO TWO. A. and N.Z. BOSTON, July 24The Harvard and Yale combined athletic team won eight of the ten events at the track meet against Cambridge and Oxford. Rudd, of Oxford, won the 440 yds., and Stallard, of Cambridge, the one mile. The Americans won the 100 yds., 120 yds. hurdles, 880 yds., two miles, high jump, broad jump, shot put. and hammer throw. Harvard won five eventsS
Ned Gourdin, Harvard's negro athlete, set a new world's record for the running broad jump of 25ft. 3in.
